Neil McMillan

Director of Science & Research, International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF)

Neil McMillans serves as the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Director of Science & Research within the Health, Safety, & Medicine Division. In this role, he collaborates with institutions and researchers across North America and oversees various initiates designed to understand occupational injuries and illness, advocate for firefighters, and provide education to membership while also building partnerships with those who possess the same purpose.

McMillan has extensive experience utilizing medical and scientific research to fight for the recognition of occupational illnesses and injuries suffered by firefighters as well as education IAFF membership and elected officials on the risk of the firefighting occupation. He instructs on how to represent unionized members in workers' compensation and has lobbied government to expand presumptive legislation and restrict hazardous agents that harm firefighters.
